Building Blocks

Posted by: Vicky on: 8 May, 2008

I love bank holiday weekends and we had a very relaxing one here. I got lots of knitting done and it felt so indulgent to be knitting on a Monday afternoon in front of the TV, catching up on “Flood” from the previous night.
Mostly blanket work the past few days and I’ve got lots [...]

Spare swatches?

Posted by: Vicky on: 24 April, 2008

Simply Knitting magazine gave all their spare swatches to The Alzheimer’s Society in Doncaster, who used them to make blankets for Alzheimer’s patients.
If you’ve got any spare swatches, then it sounds like the Alzheimer’s Society would gladly receive them.  They can be sent to: Jill, Alzheimer’s Society, 1st Floor, 58 Balby Road, Balby, [...]

Avoiding difficult stuff

Posted by: Vicky on: 26 March, 2008

I’ve been avoiding working on the cropped cardigan because it’s just not quite right, so I’ve been catching up on the blanket squares.
Stocking Stitch with four hearts
I tried about 5 times to doing the vertical white stripe with the intarsia method and it just looked rubbish. So it’s all swiss darned.

Some more squares

Just in case you were missing the squares, here are a few more…
Garter stitch with chain stitch heart

Pennant Stitch
Square 54 was meant to be just a plain garter stitch – too boring. So I looked up some different stitch patterns and found this one which I absolutely love.

Lots and lots of squares

Posted by: Vicky on: 3 March, 2008

Now the beret is finished, the only thing I have on the go at the moment is the blanket, but I’ve got quite behind in doing my weekly squares, so I’m playing catch up.
Over the next few days you’re going to see lots and lots of squares…

So much done in a week

Posted by: Vicky on: 6 January, 2008

I’m doing so well with my knitting so far in 2008.
I sewed up another blanket block:

And I’ve done some more squares (photos and details to follow later in the week).
And because I was dying to try out my new KnitPicks Options, I cast on for a men’s beanie, for my friend’s Dad.  I’ve used the [...]

Side 1 finally done

Posted by: Vicky on: 28 October, 2007

I finished the first side of the cushion cover last night… finally!  It took ages.  It’s turned out OK and I think it will look pretty good once blocked.

I think I need a break from the cushion now. I haven’t worked on my brother’s cardi for ages, so I think I ought to get back [...]

I have been knitting

Posted by: Vicky on: 18 October, 2007

Really, I have. In fact everyday last week I spent at least a couple of hours knitting. But the cushion cover seems to be taking forever to grow. I’m half way through the front piece now and it’s been relatively plain sailing. I did make a couple of small mistakes where I [...]

Posted by: Vicky on: 4 October, 2007

As promised here are the other three blocks that I’ve sewn together:

This week’s square has cables.  I’ve not done cables for ages, so am looking forward to it!
