What I did on my day off…

Posted by: Vicky on: 25 November, 2009

Last week I took a day off work (yay!), left my Dad in charge of sending out orders (fingers crossed!) and had a day shopping in Bristol.
It was to be a day of getting lost and making detours.  We were making good time and were almost at Cribbs Causeway, our first destination, when we got [...]

Starting… but not finishing

Posted by: Vicky on: 5 November, 2009

I think I’m getting a bit of a reputation as a knitter who never finishes anything!
Yesterday balls of Rowan Shimmer and Rowan Kidsilk Aura arrived for the shop and not convinced that I’m going to like Ingenue or that it will actually fit, I decided to start knitting Sparkle Bolero from Studio 17.  It’ll be [...]

What to knit next?

Posted by: Vicky on: 22 September, 2009

Now that I finished the Little Humphrey Sweater, I need to decide what to knit next.  The only thing I have on the needles at the moment is the Scandinavian blanket, but that’s a “pick up and put down project” and I’d like something a bit more meaty to do at the same time.
I was [...]

FO: Little Humphrey Sweater

Posted by: Vicky on: 18 September, 2009

I finished sewing on the buttons at lunchtime and at dinnertime was with my friends handing them this sweater for their 4 month old little boy.  Talk about cutting it fine!  But I got it done and they really liked it, particularly the way you can unbutton it on one shoulder to make it easier [...]

Another knitting book for the shelf

Posted by: Vicky on: 31 August, 2009

I had a busy day on Saturday which culminated in a visited to Spin a Yarn, which has moved into new premises at Bovey Tracey.  Joyce’s old shop was very squished as she has such a big selection of yarns and I don’t know how she managed to hold workshops in there.  She’s now in [...]

My next project

Posted by: Vicky on: 10 August, 2009

Having finished the tunic dress and Hulu Lulu, I ought to crack on and finish the Scandinavian blanket, but no, I’m itching to begin a new project – something for my friend’s little boy.  I haven’t knitted a baby jumper for ages so I’ve enjoyed browsing through all the new Sirdar and Sublime baby patterns.
I’ve [...]

Another Kidsilk Haze Cushion

Posted by: Vicky on: 26 July, 2009

Thought I’d just show you a cushion that Mum has just finished making.  It’s like the St Ives Cushion I did recently, just in different colours.

It’s made with three balls of kidsilk haze, pink, yellow and green.  You knit with two strands at a time and by doing so you can use one strand in [...]

FO: The Tunic Dress

Posted by: Vicky on: 26 July, 2009

Finally, over a year after I started it, the tunic dress is finished!
And it’s fits perfectly.  I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out.

I took it to knitting club this week to start seaming it, and everyone was full of compliments and they all loved the feel and drape of the yarn.  I used Debbie [...]

Picking up the tunic again!

Posted by: Vicky on: 17 July, 2009

Sat at the bottom of my knitting bag, the tunic dress has been lingering… hiding… from me… for probably about a year.  It’s one of those projects which I was really keen to get started.  It was the most expensive yarn I’d ever bought (Debbie Bliss Pure Silk) and I had plans to finish it [...]
