A bit of sparkle

Posted by: Vicky on: 13 December, 2009

I just had to show you this skein of yarn that I bought from Fyberspates.  The plum colour is very rich and the silver sparkly bits are real sterling silver!!

She only has this yarn as a special, every so often, and I was delighted to grab this skein last week when I saw her “tweet” [...]

How to tink or frog Kidsilk Haze

Posted by: Vicky on: 26 November, 2009

Heard a great tip today for working with Kidsilk Haze. When you go wrong with this yarn, it’s a bit of a pig to unknit (tink) or frog it.
Apparently, if you stick it in the freezer for 20 minutes, it makes the fibres stiff, and it’s much easier to tink it!
Good to know [...]

Is enough, enough?

Posted by: Vicky on: 30 March, 2009

I’m knitting the band and collar for my Sparkle cardi, but I’ve just started the last ball of wool and I’ve got that horrible feeling that I might not have enough to finish it.  If you’re a knitter, you probably know that feeling.  You try to ignore it and think everything will be ok and [...]

Yarn sales

Posted by: Vicky on: 2 January, 2009

I went to Spin a Yarn this morning because their sale started today.  I’ve been very lazy over the past couple of weeks and haven’t left the village for days, so it was nice to go a bit further.  Mum came with me and as it was a sunny day she thought it would nice [...]

Knit and Natter

Posted by: Vicky on: 23 October, 2008

We had our second Knit and Natter meeting last night.  One person was away on holiday but we had a new person join us.  It was great to see how a couple of the beginners had progressed with their projects during the past two weeks.
I’ve decided to reknit a hat that I made last year.  [...]

Christmas knitting

Presents
I’m not going to do much in the way of knitted gifts this year, but I am going to be knitting something for my brother again.  Last year I knitted him the Starsky and Hutch cardigan, but this year it will something much smaller.  I can’t say what, in case he reads my blog (unlikely, [...]

Pure silk is so pretty!

Posted by: Vicky on: 18 March, 2008

On Saturday I picked up 11 hanks of Debbie Bliss Pure Silk which I’d ordered from Spin a Yarn. It is the most expensive yarn I’ve ever bought but it is wonderfully soft and the colour (which is a new one for 2008) is just beautiful.I couldn’t wait to get home and swatch it.
I’ve [...]

On Wednesday I finished the cupcake cushion and it is exceedingly comfy. I have it on my bed and it is so soft to lie on whilst I read.

Where O where is my yarn?

Posted by: Vicky on: 20 February, 2007

Whilst I love online shopping, it can also be frustrating at times. Mum ordered some yarn for both herself and me, from a online store but we didn’t know until after the order was placed that they were out of stock of everything we wanted. Most of the yarn arrived in dribs and [...]
