Somerset Mini Quilt

At Christmas I was given one of these gorgeous packs containing a Moda Mini Charm pack from the Somerset collection by Fig Tree, together with coordinating Aurifil threads and a pattern for a mini quilt.

So this weekend I thought I’d start making it and I managed to get the entire top made in just a few hours.

I loved making it and am looking forward to the quilting part next.

My Sunnyside Cushion

I finished my patchwork cushion this week! I love it. It feels so fresh and summery to me.

It’s made with squares from a Moda mini charm packthe Sunnyside collection – plus some 2.5″ squares of plain white.

The backing fabric and piping fabric is also from the Sunnyside collection.

This is the first time that I’ve ever done piping on something. I found it a little tricky to do, especially around the corners so it’s not perfect, but I do think that cushions look so nice with piping.

Now I must get back to the socks for my husband.

Honey Bun Bag

I was looking through my fabric stash the other day and came across a box of containing two little Moda honey buns and there was a pattern inside to make a little bag.  So I did…

Not sure what I’ll use it for, but I’m quite chuffed with how it has turned out.  I did it all myself too!  It was fairly straight forward.  Sew the honey bun strips side by side, iron some fusible fleece to the fabric, then fold both ends towards the middle to make a couple of pockets. One pocket cleverly sits inside the other to create a lined pouch.

I’m now looking on the Moda Bake Shop website for ideas of what I can do with the other honey bun.
