FO: Herbert’s Tank Top

At the weekend, I finished the tank top for my friend’s baby which due next month. They’ve nicknamed “the bump” Herbert for now, hence my calling it Herbert’s Tank Top.

I really enjoyed knitting this. There was some interest with the irish moss stitch top half and it came together really quickly. Had a it of a dense moment with doing the ribbing around the neck. Had to redo it 3 times because I was just making silly mistakes, but sometimes it just goes like that, doesn’t it?

The pattern is Rico Knitting Idea 150 and the yarn I used was Rico Baby Classic DK in case you’re interested.

FO: Sparkles Bolero

My Mum wanted to knit me something back in the Summer and so as I was due to be attending a wedding in August, I suggested this bolero which would match the dress I was going to be wearing.

Unfortunately the bolero didn’t get finished in time for the wedding as Mum lost her knitting mojo, however I finished sewing it together last week after she’d knitted all the pieces. I’m sure I’ll wear it over Christmas!

If you would like to make one, then the yarn is Rico Sparkles DK and the pattern is a Rico one which you can get here. This is the first size (32″) and took 6 balls.

As far as my own knitting is going, I’ve nearly finished the poncho I recently started and I’ve also got to try and knit a beanie hat for a present this weekend!

Rico Can Can Frilly Scarf

We’ve just received a delivery of Rico’s new yarn called Can Can and I couldn’t wait to try it out.  Rico Can Can is a funny sort of yarn – it looks a bit like a fine net or mesh and the idea is that you use it to knit frilly scarves.  The yarn naturally curls as you use it.

The instructions on how to knit with it are on the inside of the label.  They are pretty tiny and the diagrams aren’t easy to understand, but I think I worked it out, at least a method that seems to create the right effect!

It’s available in 8 solid colours and 4 variagated ones.  The shade I used is called Purple Mix.
